Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) is seeking qualified candidates with a background in theatre education administration for the position of Theatre Arts Training Education Manager.  This is a full-time position with occasional evening and weekend hours required.  This position requires someone who is knowledgeable about office and budget management, theatre education, youth programming and creation of theatre-based curricula, and who has the ability to positively contribute to an anti-racist organization and dismantle structural racism in education programming.  Applicants for this role should have robust communication and relationship building skills, strong student/customer orientation, and people management skills.

This role manages the administration for all TAT programs both on and off campus including supervising classes, managing office staff, maintaining student and program files, budget management.  It is responsible for supervision of Teaching Artists, which includes scheduling, overseeing payroll for and contracting Teaching Artists for TAT classes.  This position acts as liaison to Marketing and the ticket office in facilitating class registration process, ancillary paper work and communications. It works with parents and the ticket office to resolve registration issues.  It also manages scheduling and set up of classrooms, procures classroom supplies, and CTC/TAT merchandise. 

Occasional teaching duties are required as needed, as well as acting as the emergency classroom substitute.  This position oversees all family communications and supports TAT marketing initiatives. The person in this role manages teaching assistants, interns, and high school junior interns and contributes to and maintains a welcoming, creative, and supportive environment for students, parents and teaching artists, including handling all parent, teacher or student concerns. 

This position reports to the Director of Education.


TAT Management and Administration

• Supervise classes and camps while in session

• Supervise Teaching Artists, including scheduling, contracting, payroll oversight, hiring and performance management

• Ensure safety of youth in all TAT programming by contributing to a culture of youth safety, training all TAT staff in youth safety policies and procedures and providing feedback to the Director of Education regarding programmatic safety needs

• Manage office staff, including temporary office staff and office interns 

• Oversee all family communications including informational communications to enrolled families and marketing efforts

• Collaborate with families and Teaching Artists to identify considerations and support needed for greatest success of all students

• Manage and maintain expense budgets, monitoring and reporting on budget as required

• Manage and maintain class and departmental files

• Procure all classroom materials, provide assistance in classroom set up

• Serve as production manager for TAT Student School Year Productions. Coordinates with all departments on support for production. 

• Work with Ticket Office on class registration process and help to resolve conflicts 

• TAT Marketing Support: create marketing timeline for all TAT projects; partner with marketing on email advertising

• Recruit, interview, train, schedule, supervise door monitors, Teaching Assistants, interns, and high school volunteers

• Teaching duties as needed

• Other duties as assigned

Collaborate with all staff in the furtherance of CTC’s goal of being an anti-racist theatre that works towards Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

• Assist with monitoring and ensuring access, representation, participation and decision making for historically marginalized communities within the Education Department

• Encourage and empower everyone to speak out against racist workplace practices and policies

• Study topics that lead to a deeper understanding of how white supremacy, racial violence, and systemic racism have shaped American society and how that shapes CTC’s workplace and the lives of CTC employees

• Positively contribute to the ACT One platform, creating a future where our theatre is a home for all people, all families, reflective of our community

• Experience in conceptual thinking and knowledge/understanding of curriculum creation

• Possesses ability to lead and take initiative in a high stress environment

• Strong Word and Excel knowledge

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills in office management, clerical and office tasks, budget maintenance, theatre education, curriculum creation, and youth programming.

Certificates & Licenses:

• First Aid/CPR certified (adult and child) or willing/able to obtain certification

The starting salary range for this full-time position is between $48,000 and $54,000 annually.  Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance; short-term and long-term disability and life insurance; vacation and sick leave; nine paid holidays; and a 403(b) retirement savings plan.
